This item is a 1919 theater orchestra arrangement of a
selection of songs and dances from the London Production of
the operetta
MONSIEUR BEAUCAIRE by
Andre
Messager, as scored by Charles Godfrey, Jr. It is scored
for SMALL orchestra, which includes 1st & 2nd violins,
viola, ‘cello, bass, flute, clarinet, 1st & 2nd cornets,
trombone, drums, and piano/conductor, plus 2 saxophones.
This arrangement includes about ten numbers from this
successful production, which was based on the novel by Booth
Tarkington, and first produced in London by Gilber Miller.
It then opened at New York's New Amsterdam Theatre on
December 11, 1919 and ran for 143 performances.
